|Devizes Lantern Parade|
Members of Devizes Camera Club are invited to photograph the Devizes Lantern Parade and Christmas Festival.
This year's procession will happen on 24th November, and is already shaping up to be a lovely event with a number of local schools getting involved. Our traditional markets start from 12.30pm, and the event itself starts at 5pm, with Devizes Town Band performing in the Market Place and Fantasy FM broadcasting live throughout the day.
The Lantern Parade sets off from Maryport Street at 6.15pm and parades along Sheep Street and Long Street, finishing in the Market Place where Father Christmas will turn on the Devizes Christmas Lights.
We would love to get some behind the scenes shots as well though - we will be parading the elephant and horse lanterns from Windsor Drive allotments to the Devizes Taxi garage on Castle Lane from 11am - 1pm on Thursday.
Then on Friday, we will be in St John's Church and Parish Rooms most of the day - from 9 - 4.30 we will be prepping the lanterns made at the workshops in the Parish rooms and setting up in the church, and then, come 5pm, all the people that have made lanterns will descend on the church to collect their lanterns.
The parade will start at 6.15pm from Sidmouth Street, near Devizes Books.
If any members are interested, it would be lovely to hear from them - The parade itself, as you know, provides some fantastically beautiful chances for photos.
